Eaton MTL SD surge protector.
MTL SD Surge Protectors for Data & Signal Lines | Intrinsic Safety SPD
MTL SD Surge Protection Devices
The Crouse-Hinds series MTL SD range is a comprehensive series of surge protection devices that combine unparalleled packing density, exceptional application versatility, proven and reliable hybrid circuitry, simple installation, and optional loop disconnect facilities.
These features make the MTL SD range the ultimate surge protection solution for process equipment, I/O systems, and industrial communication networks.
The exceptionally high packing density is achieved through an ultra-slim module footprint, allowing individual modules to double as feedback terminals. Each module provides full hybrid surge protection for both 2-wire and 3-wire loop applications.
SDX Models
SDX models are available in voltage ratings of 7V, 16V, 32V, and 55V (SD07X, SD16X, SD32X, and SD55X respectively).
These variants are suitable for a wide range of applications including:
Thermocouple and THC circuits
4–20 mA current loops
Emergency shutdown (ESD) systems
Fire and gas detection systems
SD Models
In addition to the features offered by SDX devices, the SD variants incorporate an integrated fuse and disconnect function. This provides both:
Fused protection against fault currents
Convenient isolation of field wiring from protected circuits without additional disconnect terminals
A third terminal is provided on both the field side and the safe side of the protector, allowing cable screens to be safely terminated to earth.
SDR Models
The SDR range is specially designed to meet the requirements of high-speed data and communication links, offering extremely high bandwidth performance.
SDR units are available in multiple voltage variants, enabling protection for a wide range of communication systems, including:
RS232
RS422
RS485
Bus-powered communication systems
These devices are classified as simple apparatus and may therefore be installed in hazardous areas without impacting the certification of the associated circuit.
SD32T3, SDRTD, SDR3 Models
The SD32T3, SDRTD, and SDR3 surge protection devices provide excellent levels of protection across all three conductors, while maintaining an exceptionally compact footprint.
This range represents the most compact 3-wire surge protection solution currently available on the market, making it ideal for installations where space is at a premium.
